The use of the atomic bomb to end WWII is a classic example used in the distinction between Natural Law Ethics and Utilitarian Ethics (or Consequentialism).

We indeed committed a “crime against humanity” in the dropping of those two bombs.

It is a sin that stains our history, like slavery and segregation.

It would be remarkable for a President to come out and “repent” (in the manner of JPII) for the past sins of our country.

It would also be redemptive.

The watering down in the Senate made it marginalized the bill. Perhaps in conference it will get back some meat. but I don’t hold out a lot of hope. the Chicago Thugs are pretty adept at getting what they want. BB

Unfortunately, if we write in Ron Paul, our vote won’t be recognized. They’ll toss it out as if we didn’t vote at all.
